I use rust remover to remove the green stain under a/c units all the time. If it's not green then I don't know.

you could always use copper remover that is made for cleaning gun barrels.

A couple of weeks ago I was cleaning in a basement and ran into a green strip. There was a copper water line that was sweating a foot above the carpet. Ultrapac Renovate removed it.
