As you know I just got my $20 off coupons. We have been leaving them on service station counters, hair salons & just passing them out to people at random.

Have any of you found a good place to leave the cards that get a good return.

We put a bunch on suckers last night and handed them out to the kids.

It read, "Here is a treat for your parents" It was a 10%off coupon.
We'll see what happens.

That's really thinking outside the box Brian... a good idea, well done.

I know I've seen people leave their business cards right at the bank teller's window inside the bank.. instead of on the cork board in the entry-way with all the other biz cards. I don't know if thats Kosher with the bank but, it was there.

I would ask your insurance agent, flower shop, caterer, pet store/veterinarian, cell phone company, mattress store... there are tons of places but I'd concentrate on more upscale locations or like Greg Crowley is doing, places where families frequent.. where there are kids there are spills/stain/pets.. and more.. GOLD!

I leave several for each customer to give them to their friends at most jobs. Then I give a 10% referral for each job referred. More targeted than scattering them with the wind.

I clean all the places that I leave the cards and they have my sign in their window with a letter on the back as they leave saying what a great job I had done for the business from the owner

We have 43 commercial accounts serviced nightly. Tonight we sent the cards with everyone to place on desks throughout the buildings.

See how this works..

Larry, are you primarily a commercial cleaner? That's alot of nightly accounts.
I have one commercial customer, strickly res for me.

I guess you must offer janitorial as well as floor maint.

Janitorial service is the largest part.

Floor care is included in the above.

We have over 600 rental properties we care for and this comes in second.

Carpet cleaning on its own is the smallest part of what we do. We are in the process of selling out the 2 above and moving south. When we do this carpet will be the only thing we do.

I just did the same for a 10,000sqft office building last night. If I get one job out of it, I will post it here.

Cool, I hope so.
I am scrambling to keep the jobs coming in.
Been on the internet looking for free ads.
Google and Yahoo hopefully will work.

It's just like any marketing. We have to get it out to as many people as we can. You never know where you're going to get a bite.

just leaving cards isn't going to do squat unless there is an offer attached. Plus in a commercial setting employees always emphasis the negatives so they will look at what you should have done. If you had a special offer in there weekly news letter explaining a little it would be great. HR people are always trying to fill up space either in their monthly, quarterly or less likely weekly newsletter, So give them an article on carpet care or a spotting guide etc. That will work much better and if you do it often enough you will be the guy they call each time.

On Monday I sent a note to 20 business owners along with the $20.00 off cards. In the note I told them who we were and how much I would like their business.

Today is Thursday and at this point 6 have replied back to us.

Thats great Larry, glad the cards are working for you! Like Matt says it helps if the cards are attached to an offer or something that tells your potential clients why they should use your services.
