Dirty Blower

I took the side port off my blower a 56 Denver Gardner the intake side. I put my hand inside the blower and pulled out gunk from it. I pulled a ton of gooey gunk out of it. It must be just dirt because it was off pretty easy off my hands. I need to get this blower cleaned out before I lock this thing up. What is the best way to get it cleaned out? Should I flush it out weekly? Flush it with what?

while running on the high side:
i always start off with a small stream out the garden hose...
and steadily increase the flow till there is no more soap coming out.....
then i spin dry for a min or so...then hit it wit the WD!

i would do it every second or third day
