I had a client today, in the wealthy suburb of Hobart, in a million dollar unit, who as soon as I got there proceeded to tell me how bad the last cleaner was, he called them back three times and now they wont go back. I asked the usual questions I ask and did my pre inspection.

As I was setting up he followed me around talking to me about the carpets and the previous company, I answered his questions and steered him away from his obvious distrust of cleaners and complaints about the last. I wont discuss other companies rather I said Ill d my best to remove the stains (apparently they put there). His wife was trying very politely to remove him from where I was working which was nice. He was standing on the hoses, standing behind me, infront of me, then asking me about vacuum cleaners he stood right next to me as I was working.

it was kind of annoying listened him, and talked to him about the carpet, what his problems were, removed the stains, he ended up getting me to do two chairs and a matt so a worthwhile clean.

However it was annoying having him follow me around does it annoy you?

I am never bothered by a customer paying attention to us at work. It is a pleasure for someone to take interest in and observe what it takes to provide the level of service we do. We are so often working alone a little company and conversation makes the job go by quicker.

I draw the line when they try to help...

yeah ive had some pull the hoses out of the way or try to move furniture they couldnt do by themselves in the first place. but when they start getting in my way i politely ask them to move. the talking doesnt bother me since im a little deaf and with the machine noise i just start ignoring them... unless its a she and she is cute. :pig:

You kidding that's free labor. "Sir do you mind holding my hose and solution line? Would you slip these blocks under that coffee table" If you don't mind wife the moisture off the tile, don't want your wife to slip. " See using this groomer it sets the nap to dry, if you'll keep grooming it, I'll pack up my hoses." :winky:

Recently retired men are the worst. I can only imagine the agony of their wives.

Had to prespot with strong ammonia to get some working space with a couple of them.

Do learn from the wisdom of your elders like Lee and R.

Lee, I knew there must be a reason why I've been carrying that ammonia with me all these years :winky:.

On a somewhat related subject, I had a lady tell me that watching men work in her house was housewives porn.

I am certain she had been watching my son, but it still made me a bit uncomfortable.

Funny, a few weeks ago a woman asked me how many times a week women I'm working for propose to me. She said something about a man working in her house was "sexy".

I don't mind terribly if they watch .
Don't mind if they yak-a-lot either

I DO mind when they're too close and get in our way.
I'll tell them jokingly that I'll have to charge more due to them impeding our smooth and orderly flow.

they generally take the hint.
If not, I'll tactfully let them know they're IN OUR WAY

Truly it is a safety issue, someone could get knocked pretty hard by the butt end of our wands.

Chased a cat out from under a bed today. Glad his ass wasn't stuck to the end o my hose : )

Lee,
I had no idea it was there.
First thing I always do is make sure the critters are rounded up, last thing I want to do is try and fight a fluff ball off the end of my flute ya know.
Home owner was asked many times if there were any more animals.

Nope, nadda, unt uh is what they said so.....

Here Kitty Kitty : )

Which brings up a whole new subject. Since R. Chavez has a picture for practically every single subject and blessed occasion.

Where does he keep them?
How does he categorize them to be so readily found in his extensive collection?
Or, if he denies the collection, what were the search words used to obtain above picture?

Sir Richard?
