Do you know what your prespray is really costing you?

my chemical costs are less than 3 percent. Typical house will use 4 to 6 gallons of prespray in an electric sprayer. Each 2 gallon container costs between 3 and 5 dollars, depending on what I use to boost.

No idea. I've always wanted to try and figure it out, but haven't yet. I know it's a relatively small amount in contrast to what we charge.

I use o2 and spray heavy. I figure it at slightly over 3.28 for 1000 sq ft.

Never figured the cost because I base my choice on performance, not price. I realize a good businessman should know all his costs, but some things can be overANALized. Treating this business like a business can take all the fun out of it.

Mike;

I've already done the calculations for PowerMax.

$95 for 45# = $2.11/#
(Sale Price even lower)

1.5 cups/ 5 Qt. Injector = 12 oz. vol. per 10 Gals. of prespray

128 oz.Volume/ 104 oz. Weight = 1.23 oz. Vol./oz. Weight

12oz. Volume x 1.23 oz. V/oz.W= 14.76 oz W/ 10 Gallons of prespray

1.46 oz.W per Gallon of prespray

13.1 cents x 1.46 oz. = 19.1 cents per Gallon of prespray.

Most of our customers spray at about 200 sq.ft/ gal. on dirty carpet.

This comes out to about a tenth of a cent/sq.ft.

Very Low cost for this operation.

Jeez Larry, can you spell that out for a battery sprayer so the rest of the civilized world can get it?

How many Oz. in a gal of water?

Yesterday I cleaned over 900 sqft of NASTY with 1 HF jug, and got a $20 tip

I think I spray heavey but have not seen other CCers on the job to compair with

Wife wanted me to figure up what it cost to clean an avg size room, I could not figure in travel to the job and back, but I did figure cost of fuel to run TM and 3HT, avg cost to clean 150 - 200 sqft (and I do mean avg) $1.60 for , pre spray, boost, rinse, gas, and propane

1.23 oz. Vol./oz. Weight x 1.46 oz.W per Gallon of prespray = 1.8 oz Vol./gallon ~ about 2 oz./gallon

However, sprayer guys usually spray less total solution, so I would use 3 oz./gallon.

3oz. got it, so a scoop and a half per gal. for bama cleaners.

does it still not all rinse out, and leave the carpet Alkaline after a clear water rinse? pH8? That is probably fine for my Apt. guys.

Holy cow, some of yuse guys use alot of prespray, no wonder my o2 lasts forever. You guys flooding the floors with your stuff? I know the cost is relatively cheap, I think I need a Werner vid on prespraying. Even when I spray heavy I don't come close to what u guys use. Maybe its the aggitation of the 360, but my custys are thrilled with our results. Am I missing somethun here?

using big blue i can put down large amounts of juice and quick. The more I use the faster the cleaning is price is irrelevant.

jug of O2 costs me about $50
thats about 40cents/oz
I put 16 oz in my HF with a yellow tip, don't use the whole thing on 1000sf of carpet
works out to $6.4/1000sf or 0.6cents/sf

Seems reasonable to me

You can get away usuing less chemical with a rotary extractor. Especially if you use an emulsifier.

I prefer to soak the yarn above the backing so that I know that the prespray has touched every part of the fiber. Then I rinse with an emulsifier. If it's nasty I roto scrub it. But most of the time you don't need roto scrubbing....at least using a greenhorn wand like I do. I find that I can finish a job faster and dryer with a greenhorn with a nuke and emulsifier rinse, and have great results for most residential.

I really do not worry about the cost of prespray, most restaurants I clean will require 10 to 20 dollars worth of product for prespray. I use 6-8 scoops of powerbreak, 2 cups citrus spike in the hydroforce. I also mix heavy with the o2 prespray when I clean residential carpets. Ron

anyone use kleenrite extreme? I buy it in big drums. I use 6 scoops in the hydroforce with a little citrus booster and nothing i have found is as good for cost. O2 does come close

HF or Pump Up, what does it cost you to prespray 1000 feet of dirty carpet?

depends on "how dirty" as to how much we need for 1000sf

So i'll do it this way..

electric sprayer
depending which juice we're using and at what dilution ratio , cost ranges from $.70 cents to $2.00 pr gal RTU.
Average is appx $1.40 pr gal RTU

application rate averages 200-400sf pr gal

if they won't pay for restoration/salvage cleaning (which means a roto scrub) then we may saturate/hose it down at 100sf pr gal

This will cut your per-spray cost by 50% and increase the quality of the job.

I'd love to, Les.
Problem is, not all of them will pay extra for a roto scrub.
So nuking it becomes more cost effective
