the best way to Trademark something?

What did you Trademark?

Is the process a DIY or is a Service like Legal Zoom worth it?

Was the process itself worth it?

Are you referring to a patent or a trademark. A patent can be 4K -15K if you get legal help. 2K if you do it yourself. But it is quite a hurdle, lots of time and a big learning curve and if you do make a mistake. It could be more costly in the long run. The first step is to get a provisional patent. That works as a place holder for a year for $250. Then have your patent in place right when it runs out.

Pretty involved process, not something you can do by yourself unless you're looking at several years in prison and don't want to lift weights.

We trademarked our Spot Off brand spotter, and now greatly respect the little TM beside a name or phrase.

It may be easier to do if you make up a word, but this chart will show the steps: http://www.schroderfidlow.com/pdf/TMProcessflowchart-logo.pdf
