Look for user name "Daddy" and try to get him to talk to you.

He's a bit backward and socially awkward, so don't expect much out of him.

For the most part Cleanco's are pretty reliable. They're the most sold up here as FIbreclean is a dealer and Janitor's Warehouse bought out Fibrecleans stores.
They have their lemons though, and they really need a better blower silencer.

No problems with driveshaft? How many hours on yours?

The local dealer here told me the drive shafts have to be laser aligned. Maybe yours needs alignment?
The guys around here that run cleancos love them. I’m sure they are as good as any other PTO.

Gary Heacock once referred to them as the Butler of the north. I don't think they are quite that good but would rate them above average.

I bought a Compact 47 2 1/2 years ago, one major defect out of the factory was the drive clutch was out of allignment and broke the serpentine belt after 12 hours. After that was fixed the unit has run well for over 1600 hours.

They were known to have shaft problems and at the time mine was built were testing new shafts made right in Calgary where Cleanco is head quartered. My unit has the new shaft and I haven't had any problems. I just finished the color repair course & met a guy from Saskatoon that had a 1 year old Compact with the new Roots Whispair blower. He said you could stand beside the unit and talk, a lot quieter than the old dual lobe blower. This guy did have shaft problems (not many hours on unit) , was on his second shaft and Cleanco was having a hard time getting things resolved.

Mine has the PTI option, helps bump the heat up a few degrees, I have seen over 200 degrees at the wand. When the other pto guys chime in and tell you their units run at 240 degrees ask them to put up a picture of that number on a lie detector atw. :)

Thanks for the info. I have a compact 56, just over 2 years old, I love the performance and how easy it is to operate. But after just a year and 236 hrs. driveshaft and clutch went and then again just about a year later and another 250 hrs. Its been about a month since they replaced them and I've put about 70 hrs. on it and its going again. So any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Find a qualified PTO or Cleanco distributer and get it fixed.
Even if you have to drive some distance.

Sorry to hear you are having that headache, sounds like the exact story the guy from Saskatoon told me. Hope you get it resolved soon. I wonder if Lou or Jeff from Cleanco lurk on here, would be interesting to to see them chime in.

I have a Compact 47. Bought it new in 2003. Replaced 2 driveshafts. Both under warranty, but the overnight shipping from Canada was expensive. Not sure if they were lined up right or what the problem was.

I like the machine as a whole, but the noise from the driveshaft irritates me while I'm driving the van.

Not sure if my next unit will be a Cleanco or not.

Mine kind of rattles a little bit when driving.
But when I bought mine the key selling point was that my local dist had a factory rep fly in and install it. To my knowledge I am the only one in my area to have one.

I looked at the hydramaster cds and didn't like the configuration and set up.
I wanted as simple a machine as I could get with standard components like roots blower and cat pump.

Yeah there is a slight rattling noise when driving, no big deal. Turn the radio on and you dont even notice it. I do love how simple the uniy is and the performance is great, its just this driveshaft issue thats killing me.

When I first got my Cleanco, it rattled a lot. LOUD!!! Especially while accelerating. And it had a high pitched whine that I found really irritating.

Now on my 3rd shaft, the real loud noise is not so loud, its bearable. Still a bit of that whine, though. The whine is getting worse as the bearing is going on the clutch. Tried to get the clutch replaced today, but the dealer was out of them.

I admit, I like things quiet. So it may be that the first shaft had problems from the get-go. And the rest may just be normal.

Thanks again for all the info hopefully this will get sorted out in a week, Cleanco is sending a bunch of stuff down to the company that I bought the unit from. They said they will spend all day on it. And go over every peice of it.

I like things to be quiet too. The think I hated about my other vans with slide in units was all the noise of stuff fibrating and moving around as I rode down the road. Not to mention the heat and fumes from the engine and propane heater. I like the fact that I am seperated from that in the V, but the Vortex cab is noisy all it's own!

If I bought a direct drive unit I would expect most of that to be eliminated, and to find the shaft to rattle like that would really tick me off.

Anyone else out there with a Cleanco, with or without any problems. Jeff from cleanco is sending a bunch of stuff to dealer that sold/installed unit to pick it apart piece by piece to get resolved. So we'll see.

I just put in a new electric clutch and rebuilt the shaft due to bearing slop, thats what ruined the clutch. They replaced it with a Hydramaster clutch vs another White Magic. We aligned the shaft with a laser and the guy said thats the only way to insure a perfect alignment.

Seems to me that if it's making a noise, it's not right.

Now I think my heat exchanger is going out. The White Magic Vulcan has been having lots of problems (it is making noises too).
