Does anyone have any good advice for how to dispose water from a portable unit when cleaning a residential job? (besides the toilet and the sewer drain?)

If you have auto pump out, you can run your pump out hose to any sink or tub. If you have to dump by the bucket, it all depends on where you are, and what is acceptable there. (Hint-fill out your profile completely)

My concern was that customers will frown upon this... do you find that most customers are okay with this?

Always give your customer options, as it gives them a sense of control. Ask them where they would prefer the waste water go.

They will almost always choose toilet over heat registers.
