If you are at this point where you might be needing to hire an employee you might want to also find an accountant to help you with doing payroll and other basic payroll taxes and etcetera that you will need to pay.
Our accountant will get our QuickBooks every couple of weeks to do payroll and send back to us. They take care of all Social Security and other taxes. We also have SIMPLE IRA accounts even offered for our employees.
It is not very expensive actually to have an accountant and then they can set up your QuickBooks well and even take care of some other things that will make your life a lot easier for a few dollars per month.
If you have the time your accountant can set you up. QB is really pretty easy. Once you have your employees entered it just takes a few clicks to enter a check. Paying payroll taxes is easy too. All liabilities are visible in a window and you check it, confirm and it's electronically paid and removed from your account. Much better than logging on to EFTPS to pay them.
