I cringe whenever Mrs crazy cat lady starts to ask about cleaning them. I tell her the wood underneath might bleed through. They are usually pretty scratched up.

Charlie we cleaned them in the sun and they felt bone dry before we took them back inside. It didn't take much water to get them clean, it was mostly hair.
