Electric Hose Reel RPM?

Im building a few Electric Vac Reels, and am in the process of getting pulleys... how fast do most Power Reels spin?

100 RPM? Less?

Mine spins at around 90rpm has has a good amount of torque... I'm going to start building another one soon myself... Are you going to use a belt or chain to drive it? My last other one is chain driven and I have had no problems with it. I would suggest using a breaker rather then a fuse even though it is a little more pricey.

Yes the reel itself with no load probably 75rpm under load...

Would wrap up 100' of hose in about 8 seconds.

Would also take a few minutes to clean up the mess that would cause.

Time IS money Lee as you know... I would say 8 seconds for 100ft is about right. Not sure what mess you are talking about though? It dosen't make.any "mess".

That is one of the joys of modern day carpet cleaning. My electric reel winds up each 50' hose length at ten seconds per. Really nice when your arms are beat to a pulp at the end of a job.

I will time the reel on my 777, i think it's pretty fast. It will definitely pull your feet out from underya! thathurts

I had 400' on the chain driven hose reel on my Vortex 777 & it pulled in the last 100' in 12.5 seconds, it ran at 66 RPM's.

Also, I had 400' on the gear driven hose reel on my Vortex 6008 & it pulled in the last 100' in 19.5 seconds, it ran at 46 RPM's.


I can measure the sprockets on the chain drive, if you want.


No one was injured from flying cuffs conducting these test. shiteatinggrin
