Ever clean a nasty office with a stallion Porty?

I wouldn't suggest it. It took forever... That being said it gave good results.

I hardly ever do a place that I can't reach with my truckmount but man I'm glad I had this little Porty thing tonight. No way I could have reached these offices.

Did you spread your cream all over the carpet and massage it gently or vigorously?!?

Nice work btw.... How long did it take you? Can you put a glide on it for better recovery or will the brushes not work?

I ran into a chem who guy yesterday that cleans with an Rx20 and a ninja...

Oooof.
One of my supervisors a few years ago was visiting his daughter in Dallas and she had them cleaning her apartment. He said they used that same setup and he was blown away at the results. He said it was really clean and really dry when they left. :eekk:

Really dry with an RX and a ninja?? I can't do that with my truckmount. I need to meet this guy!

I was disappointed to hear it too. They have custom shoes and must have very low flow. But he said it looked great and dried faster than our cleaning. I asked him if she had resoiling issues and he said no. :shifty:

I just had a condo cleaning the other day and a couple doors down the hall a chem hack showed up and proceeded to "clean" carpet with a -much smaller than a ninja- proty. With a tiny wand that might be smaller than my stair tool.

No I didn't see a thing we would call: vacuum cleaner.

I did notice though after he was done, the old lady of the home was vacuuming the carpets! And the chem hack guy was ok with that as he was preparing the invoice.

What the hell kinda service is that?? Where your customer finishes by vacuuming the carpet you just cleaned??

I've never used a portable but I would suspect attached to my power head it would do a good job and leave it pretty dry. You only use 100-300 psi. I used it at 100 with great results it was just slow.

Yeah. This one doesn't attach to a separate wand or powerhead. It has a wand style head built in and you just roll it around.
It was incredibly slow. I am glad I had it though.

Most self contained carpet extractors have 100 psi. High flow flood and suck.
The key is the vacuum hose is less than 2 ft from the waste tank.
There are far more of the Stallion type of machine out there than Truckmounts by far.
There are even ones you sit and ride on

They clean 10,000 to 15,000 sq ft per hr. 20,000 plus for Vlm.
With a self contained extractor you can quote .05 per sq ft and make a boat load.

Looks great! How long did it take with the Stallion? Those self contained units aren't too shabby at all. However, I do love carpet tile with VLM. Easy and quick....

Ray brings up a great point..

I'd say 75% of our customers don't care or stress over dry times.

As a matter of fact, one of our very best let me know yesterday that her nylon loop glue down in her basement usually takes two days..

Moist concrete, no airflow, too much pressure...

I'd say that's not what I experience with our customers..as far as dry time concerns.

They are much more concerned about "how long does it take to dry", than how it will be cleaned and what machine/method will be used. But of course there is always the method shopper, that wants to make sure we only use -"steam clean" or we only- "do that dry clean kinda clean".

I think most of us professionals could get a job (very well) done with a $40.00 vacuum cleaner and a $30.00 shop vac and some total basic detergent/cleaning agent.

As far as Ray bringing up the fact that there may be more of those little extractors in use than truckmounts: So what? Does that supposed to mean anything to the top professionals around here? Who cares.....?
It is like going on the european supercar forums and making a point: there are a lot more skateboards being sold and used than all the Lambo/Ferrari/Rolls/insert any top euro make..... Yes you can go from L A to Vegas in a luxury car or sports car and you CAN make it there on a skateboard....How your experience will compare when you get there, is what makes the real difference.

If you do commercial carpet cleaning it will increase your production rate so you can make more money.
Those are the guys that might care.

Ray, are you trolling?
What will increase production rate? Those little Stallion style units? Increase compared to what, a truckmount (if the job is truckmount accessible), a Cimex, or some other kind of unit? If I think about it...I think the Stallion style would be the least production rate. So I'm sure I'm missing something here...

Ray, I'm just getting ready (mentally) for one of our regular jobs that usually takes 2 techs 4 or 5 days to complete. 60000 sqft hallways and 8 sets of stairs spread out into 4 identical buildings and each building has 3 floors. If we had to do it with a Stallion instead of truckmounting (which is required by the property management) it would take us 2 weeks to finish it.
It takes 4 days with a Zipper or 5 days with a 14" Greenhorn.

Zee I think Ray was talking about the ones you ride on in certain situations for speed cleaning! Or maintenance cleaning probably not like the service you'll be providing.

If that's what he is saying, then yes, you could be faster....but certainly not the cleaning quality most of us would like to achieve.
