not oil but burning vapor/oil combo.
How often do you spray wd40 in the port? If you aren’t running the machine full throttle under load for 5min, it’s not burning it out, which causes buildup. And mixing overflow water in that or a busted blower/heat exchanger will show what you’re seeing

blue smoke all the time?
or only sometimes?
(piston rings or valve guides maybe)

is it white smoke by chance?
only when hot and running?
(waste water or foam being sucked into blower)

I have a series of oil leaks. this is mass smoke - white when hot. I am leaning towards foam. I was doing extraction for a water damage job yesterday and there was foam ( in the new carpet)?? I checked the overflow shut off switch and its good. Thank you for the response.

If you’re using it after every use…you’re using too much. The manual instructs to use at the end of the Day.

And if you run out of the wd40, just take of the lid after the last job at the end of the day so it’ll stay dry. The purpose of wd40 isn’t to lubricate. It’s to get rid of any moisture.

Yes, new carpet can foam.. When carpet is made it goes through a cleaning at the mill.. Adjustments can go out of whack and carpet can end up with what they refer to as "spin finish".. Basically the soap wasn't rinsed out of it throughly.. You'd be surprised to find out how much carpets have defects in them, but I'm privy to certain information that others aren't.. But the amount of carpet that is made yearly makes the "defects" around 10%..

Anyhow, you probably didn't run into that unless the carpet was very soiled even when new.. I'd say something mechanical like a seal or something.. Any leaks is a bad sign and should be addressed sooner than later..
