Guys on the Face book, who were long time love Sapphire and Prochem. Guys are jumping to the steam action..

Saying more heat, more vacuum, better dry times.

I commented on a post, about lift setting and more vacuum.

Years ago a guy posted he had a Legend and a 405.

His techs said the legend had better vacuum??????

Well from the factory the legend is set to 14 hg.

The 405 is set to 12 hg.

So it may feel harder to push the same wand on a 100 ft hose run with the higher lift setting.

The steam action are set at 18, much like Cobbs 17 hgs.

I said all higher lift settings will get you is more heat, and operator fatigue, and wear and tear on your machine.

I guess if you use a holed glide and a aw29 you probably don't notice it.

I run my 570 at 15 but usually only gets to 13-14.

And my pro 1200 is set to 13 hg.

And the devastator is still hard to push with a slot glide.

Is 18 really necessary?????

No, it isn't. I rather buy more OP than to deal a machine vacuum set at 18hg. I set my 423s to to 13 hg with devastator 450 psi 6flow. It's fine. I intend to use it for 10,000 hour.

my limited experience with higher lift, is that on a longer than usual hose run it helps

but walk past the exhaust and you can feel the extra heat coming out, particularly on my non hx unit

Maybe if you're doing 500+ ft vac hose setup, but other than that...14 is all you need
