Extremely difficult hard water stains

I ran across some hard water stains in a ceramic shower that I can't budge. I tried Cobb's powermax and then I tried a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water, scrubbed, applied it again, Let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes, scrubbed again and then rinsed. It didn't budge it.
The stains are light brown in color and are common in this area.

So, for those of you who have "actually succeeded" in removing these kinds of stains, what works?

When all else fails, Stone scrub.

Stone scrub or magic Al's glass and metal polish. Steel wool or a hogs hair pad if you're worried about scratches.

You haven't tried anything with chlorine yet? Ajax paste and Softscrub will hang on for a while before you rinse it.
