Who here uses a Fitbit, and how many steps do you average on a cleaning day?

It would be cool to find out. I believe there is an app on these fancy phones that can do it. Might even be free.

I don't want to know.

But in my youth I walked everywhere. Saw the country side in Germany that way too.

I would've been interested to see how many miles I walked back then just for bragging rights. Nobody could ever keep up with me back then,i was adrenaline rushing all the time.

samsung s-health and iphone health do and are on many peoples phone already without the need for 3rd party apps

I sit my phone down too much to rely on it as a fitness tracker though
You don't need to carry your phone to record your steps. A Fitbit is a small watch on your wrist, and there is an App on your phone that connects thru Bluetooth to tally your daily steps to your phone.

Then you also compete against other people ( people you know and select to compete with) daily or weekly, or on the weekend, to count your steps.

The competition is cool and reminds you how important exercise is, especially as we get older.

have a couple original fitbits around here somewhere too...and a fitbit scale

Just stating that many people may be counting their steps already and there are in fact phone apps.........but they are only counting if you have the phone on you verses a band type tracker you are more likely to have on all the time

My phone varied from 22 steps to 22000 this month.....I average 10k-12k when wearing a tracker

which of course doesn't answer the question cause I'm not cleaning carpet

wrap one around my belt, and it monitors my horrible sleep habits. Full cleaning day, 4k-7k steps. And something interesting, even when I'm moving and sweating I rarely reach my target heart rate. Hence carpet cleaning isn't the cardio work out you might think it is.

I wore a Jawbone for a couple of days. It would get caught on everything and make me mad.
I was doing 20-22k steps on a busy day. That's what made me understand why my shoes wore out so fast.

Stop wearing a belt to bed and you may sleep better

I wear the Fitbit charge HR

Average 13k steps per day. Max day was 27k steps

I like the fact that it only needs a charge about every 5 days

Will probably switch to the Apple Watch if they can improve battery life and add a few more compelling features

It's a heart rate monitor as well. My resting rate is 58 bpm

Wife and I walk and like to go at least 3 miles so it's convenient to know when we are in new territory

Also synced to my phone so I can see who is calling from my wrist or not miss a call cause I don't hear it in my pocket

Is that powerful enough dickwad?

You have to really be jogging or running to get to your max heart rate. You can still get a good cardio workout without reaching your max heart rate.

And if you can't reach it running see your doctor fast. You may need a defibrillator.

Big upgrade to be sure

Never been an early adopter of tech

Always seems the early iterations are either flawed , overpriced and/or feature deficient

I've always been a early adopter of everything tech... since there was tech :-) But not the watch. Didn't make any sense to wear something that has to be paired with the phone. Now that they are making more native apps and especially now that it can be worn in a pool... I'm almost there...not quite but almost.

My wife bought me a Fitbit for Christmas. I thought it would be cool to count steps while working. Turned out for me it was logging WAYYYY more steps than I was taking. Like after my first job and it was showing 2000+ steps. At the time I was using a portable and I attributed using the wand to the over-count. I returned it.

I'd use the Microsoft Band 2... Haven't wore it in a while as my friend broke the band when he set my tool set on it whIle working on his car.. I got a replacement but the battery dosent seem to hold the charge.. It was nice to see your calls without pulling your phone out of your pocket..

I'd average 10k per day.. on commercial jobs I'd get up to 19k..

I'd use the band while sleeping also.. It supposedly would wake you up at the best time for you.. Too techy for me.. I'd monitor my blood pressure while getting busy though...:shifty:
