My attorney is buying a used floor sander. He asked me which brand name I thought was better. It would be great if anyone could help me out. The 1st one is a hire tech model number htf-2

The other one is an orbital technologies floor sander.

Any help would be great.

Lee,

I don't know. They are square at the bottom and the motors look like a rotary scrubber.

Sounds like the old Squar-buff sanders, (random orbit) basically an OP machine that's confined to keep it from rotating. John Geurkink could probably help with info on that type.

My first choice for serious wood sanding would be a drum type machine, but it requires a good deal of skill to keep from making dips and ripples.

If your attorney is doing his own floors at a rate or about 80.00 per hour that a pro would charge ( who is twice as fast) and he can bill out his service at 250.00 per hour I might consider a new attorney. Unless he just enjoys it of course which means he may be delusional.

ps Lee is correct as usual: Drum to take it down to new material, orbital to just apply a new coat (or between coats).
