It is a Southern tradition to eat collard greens and black eyed peas on New Years Day. The collard greens represent paper currency and the black eyed peas represent coins. It is said that if you eat this on New Year’s Day you will receive success and a lot of cash for the next year.

It's a Filipino custom on New Years day, when the family returns home after celebrating the arrival of the New Year, they throw coins around the house.

The money spirits are supposed to ensure that that house will always have money.

It hasn't bloody worked in nearly thirty years.

S.W.M.B.O. blames it on the Aussie kids that visit and find the coins. shiteatinggrin
