I'm not a superstitious guy

but damn......

first, I'm expecting a LONG over due $2500 check that's owed to me. (and NEEDED)
(90 days past due)
I was told it was "in the mail" 2 days ago. (Wed)
That means it would be in my mail box when I get home yesterday (Friday the 13th).......................nope, sure wasn't

yesterday (Friday the 13th) the Little Genies call me on the last job

"the engine is bogging down and stalling"

OK, I'm not to far away, I cruise over, start it up and hear an awful screeching sound.

"yea, it was making that sound first thing this morning"

Shane says

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I see a slight bit of smoke coming from gear side of the blower.
NO OIL!!
I haven't clue when, where or how it lost oil.
No evidence of oil leaks...sounds like it was running dry ALL DAMN DAY

I poured in some regular oil that was handy , turned down the HG and they finished the job.
I figure she's COOKED...................DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT

to top it all off, last night (Friday the 13th) the brand new $1000 front loader washer I bought a couple months ago, takes a crap and won't work.
The error code says it's the control board
At least it's under warranty....

Bummer Larry...

I didn't have NEAR that bad of day, just came down with flu-like symptoms last night.

Keep your head up!

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia,

why do we fear Friday the 13th

Jacques de Molay of the Knights Templar, and 60 of his senior knights were arrested on Friday, October 13, 1307 by King Philip IV of France additionally thousands of Templars were arrested and subsequently tortured to confess and were executed

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia,

i don't have any "fear" of it

but here's a true story that happened many years in my knucklehEd dayz

I'm at a bar drinking and carousing.
I rode there with a friend.
I'm playing my Romeo routine to some chic that's digging on me.
I tell my bud to head home without me 'cause I'm going home with her
Welp, I didn't know til later that the car we were steaming up the widows in in the parking lot belonged to her LIVE IN BOYFRIEND
AND... he expected her home after the bar closed, so I wouldn't be spending the night with her, nor could she give me ride home due the time constraints put on her by her boyfriend
(it's now well past closing time and all my potential rides home have left)

so...I start hoofing it home in the freezing dead of night.

it wasn't til a few days later as I recounting the story to a friend, that they mentioned that it was Friday the 13th when that happened

Here's the killer part
it was a 13 mile walk home from the bar

fo-reel..

Sorry, man. That's a rough day!

I didn't even think about the nightmare job from yesterday as being on the 13th.. LOL
Actually, Friday the 13th is my lucky day. My son was born on Friday the 13th!

Well....I just found out from this thread yesturday was friday the 13th. And I had an unlucky day.....broke my blower belt. Drove 5 hours to get it. On Wed I melted the front of my pv12 vac and found out yesturday (no jobs inbetween)....so my vac is screwed up. Needless to say it wasn't a great day.

On a good note it will most likely force me to buy a new vacuum. I've had it on the list of things I wanted to do because of the price of bags and it's mediocre performance. I'll probably get one of them mikey approved sanitaires with the dust cup but I really like having something to suck up next to the baseboards.

your own, or someone else's?

Tim, i saw your mention of the belt break in the equip tm
Bummer, but I'd be GLAD to trade you.....

I pulled the TM a little while ago, started it up and put the blower under load for 10 minutes.
It ran OK, now I'm draining the oil.
The oil has nice shimmery glittery metal flake paint job look to it....

wish it was gold dust instead of metal GEAR dust....

What brand did you buy? I suggest the whirpool front loader or kenmore big ones. They are built like a rock, I had the service guys tell me they were awesome machines when they first came out here. (I used to sell appliances for sears). Anyway they said they had been selling them in europe for a very long time and had the bugs worked out. I personally have one and have been running it 4 years with 0 problems other than sand cloging the strainers causing a code to come up telling me that there is low water pressure.

Fridgidare Affinty 8000, Timbo
(actually an Electrolux)
according the appliance salesman, it's the same hi-end model as the Electrolux branded goods
He showed me both, and damned if they weren't identical from what I could see, 'cept name plate and paint job
only the Affinity 8000 was several hundred le$$

I did some research before I bought.
It's "s'posed" to be one of the best buys on the market

we'll see.......

I would of told ya to steer away from fridgidaire and electrolux appliances. My in-laws had a fridgidaire front loader. They eventually got rid of it. It was decent but the dryer went out first. Whirlpool makes awesome washers.

Friday the 13th was a snow storm and schools closed here.
It was a good excuse to just have a relaxing day for a change.

Hope the 14th is better.

Cheers!

Hey, Larry.....could it have been how the waste tanks on the Powermatics seem to rub on the blower casing? I know the spot on my waste tank on my PM has the impression of the gearbox casing embedded into it.

I had 2 #4 blowers sitting in the garage that you could have borrowed.

I was also expecting a check for $3000+ that was a bit late, but it showed up on Friday.

there's a good 2-3 inches of clearance on mine, RW

Larry.....my PM is a 1992. They must have added more clearance in later years. That blower end casing rides right on my tank, and leaves it's mark. I'll stick a piece of foam in there when I re-install the tank.
