I could be wrong, it may have just been our particular mother, it was pretty old! The guy who used to work on it actually worked for a company that built huge generators, and he was finding it harder and harder to find parts. Eventually we needed a rebuild and it would've been too much of a hassle and a lot of money so we ended up parting it out and got a Fox.
Wisconsins are great motors.

I was told by the local service center that it was hard to get parts but when I called Wisconsin they said that wasn't true. They do still make them and they never die. They are used in industrial applications that never stop and lots of carnival rides use them.
