Hey guys I have a large account that I clean for monthly and for the last year and a half I have been instructed to clean around tape that was laid down to split the hallways and prevent the spread of covid.
On the last cleaning we removed all the tape and there is a good amount of adhesive left behind
so much that if I run my wand over it and melt the adhesive with heat it will instantly clogg my glide and prevents the wand from moving freely

I also am concerned about damaging the carpet

I think I should prespray turn use a buffer with a red pad then vacuum up the excess then wand

what are your thoughts ?

thanks for the help

Wd40 can be used as an adhesive (and gum) remover

If we're talkin a lot of area here your idea of a 175 is probably a good one just to lessen the density of adhesive using a solvent based prespray.........any of the orange ones would probably work

It is certainly going to spread it out and probably remove a bit but I don't know how well it will be "emulsified" so you can extract it.....it will probably be a non-issue........but one of the limonene/solvent based presprays would be my choice

I've never used it but tsunami is probably better suited for grease than a situation like this. It isn't about the "strength" but effectively dissolving the adhesive.

That said since your primary issue seems to be with the density of the adhesive/clogging the spreading of the mechanical action may allow you to remove it with your normal prespray/heat although a solvent would likely be better

If nothing else pick up some googone spray ( or similar for the toughest spots

The gum freeze is no bueno on that. I believe your solvent will slightly saturate your pad making it easier to remove in large areas. I think
a 13” scrubber would be ideal, but larger wil be ok.
