what kind of adhesive?

i've had good luck with goo gone. and some with wd-40

VDS for construction adhesive or caulk. Carpenters glue- Your f'd.

Many kinds of adhesive. But a solvent in gel form would work on most of them. Cimex to scrub can help with agitation , especially if there are a large number of spots where the adhesive was tracked. Rinse with hottest water availble to make rinsing the adhesive easier.

Steamways Spotter 301(VDS) if that doesn't move it then got to 701(NVDS) which you rinse with 301. Without looking at it I can't gaurantee it will come it but i'm 99.99% sure one of those two combinations will fix the problem.
