What goals have you set for yourself this year? Did you include a time table for completion or benchmarks? How will you measure success? Are your goals lofty? Are they lofty enough? Feel free to share your personal & professional goals/plans & benchmarks.

Hi Jeremy, My business is only a little over a year old, however
spending so much time with the franchises has taught me alot
about benchmarking.I first set a monthly gross sales goal based
off fixed expenses and some variable ones. My budget was set at
$3,500 for a single owner/operator per month. The goal was to do
at least $36,000 for my first full year.I tracked my marketing to
the penny, to see were I was wasting money(you will do this no
matter what in the beginning)but it does help to regulate it. I added
some additional services which helped my bottom line. My total
first year sales were not bad at $52,000. I see Dave Rampage
does very well as an owner/operator you may want to talk with
him. Please feel free to e-mail or call me if you want.I just love
the fact that there is so much great information here, it has helped
me alot.

All The Best, Rob

I write 5 goals a year. Some personal and some business related. I post them on the wall in front of my desk so I can see them daily. They are attainable, quantifiable, and simple goals. 5 words or less each. I also post my previous years goals back to 1993. If it is not written down then it is just bumpin yer gums.

Every year I write a complete business plan. This year I am going to take it month by month and just do a sales goal. I write my sales goal on the calendar and write where I should be each day. Each day when I am done I write my actual sales number so I can see where I am at.

I am going to start marketing again this year but I am not going to go crazy with it or I will never see my family. A little each month will add up.

Dave
