Union to work in the building. Job is too small to make it worth joining.
It's crazy that a union can stop a tenant from hiring who they want!

How strong are unions in other cities?

Other than the large Janitoral companies like Unicco etc I can't imagine many small companies with their emplyees belonging to unions.

Over 20 years ago when I worked for another company we joined a union just to be to work in one of the highrises downdown. It was worthwhile as we had a number of floors quarterly.

guys if my memory is right from the incident over 20 years ago, what would happen is the freight elevator operator(remember high rise) would not carry our equipment from 5pm to 10 pm when they ran the elevator so it was intimadation. The company paid for a couple of us to join SEIU and I think after our membership ran out we still got to enter the building as they knew us but didn't realise our membership was out.

Unions are strong in boston even mass. If your building a apartment building over 4 units it has to be completed by union emplyees or it will be boycotted like what happened to Tom Brady when he had work going on a couple of years ago.
