Got A Problem

I have a customer that had ink leak out on the light grey carpet. Of course, your Superhero made a few attempts to get the ink up. Usually a walk in the park. Not this time. The ink bloomed to double it's size. I went there today to maybe drop in a plug, took out the donor and the area where the ink was had faded considerably. My only thought I could come up with was to section the offending area out and try working from the back out and re-seaming it back in. Any other suggestions? I know, I should have qualified a bit better, but it's a little to late now.
