We looked at buying a system like that. We had a bank with a lot of branches that asked us if we could remove gum from their side walks and drives.

Pressure washing was messy and you had to recover your water, these kind of machines look like the best way to approach it.

Why would you have to recover water? You blast it with a pressure washer and there is nothing left of it but clean, plain water.

The more difficult part was that these banks are surrounded by manicured grass and if anything damaged them it would be on us. The banks that shared open parking space with shopping centers had run off issues, and our city is very strict about no commercially generated water can enter their storm drains.

Richard,

Would dry ice blasting be a cost effective approach ? Its been a few years since I've used those machines and looked up the costs for dry ice.

The one of the problems with ice blasting is storage, even with their coolers it will only last several days so you have to be able to get it and use it right away. The other is compressor to run it, can get pricey renting them and then the fuel to run it. We own our compressor but towing around would be an unneed hassle in comparison to a gum machine.

All kinda prices ice out as a reasonable cost effective method.
