Whose had experience with this product? We're looking to use the liquid as our new rinse.
I know about the cost of the liquid over the powder, but we're staying with the liquid.

very old chemistry unless they finally updated it. It's a very heavy hitter and I used to use it for commercial.
I didn't care for the smell and if used on trashed residential it didn't seem to leave the carpets soft. Some dried crunchy but it could of been a chem flow problem.

Formula 90 is the premier extraction liquid on the market and one of the only "woolsafe" products out there

All products that have been around that long have been reformulated. I'm not aware of any established chemical from a major manufacture that has not undergone a reformulation.

Hi guys I know for a fact that Legend Brands has employed not one but two top notch Chemists to make sure that the chemistry in Chemspec is on the cutting edge of cleaning technology. If you get a chance visit legendbrands.net to learn about about the latest in cleaning technology.

Hey, look who is here!!!

Lets chat...

  • Don can you tell us about your new position at Chemspec /Legends?
  • How did your time at CTI prepare you for this task?
  • Were you ever a "in the trenches Carpet Cleaner"?
  • Are there products in the CTI line that you'd like to see Chemspec have a version of?
  • If a guy/company only wanted to carry one pre-spray and one rinse, what would you suggest and what boosters would you recommend?
  • Fels Naptha....your thoughts?
  • The best part about your career
  • and the worse.....

Thanks Don, I hope to see you here often!

Hi Mike
Don can you tell us about your new position at Chemspec /Legends?

As Director of Chemical Products I have the privilege of contributing to the Legend Brands team to help with the innovations of chemistry, education and marketing of all chemical brands.
How did your time at CTI prepare you for this task?
Great question, CTI was a great training ground for me to learn how to help the cleaners in our industry at a grass roots level. Now I am excited to take that knowledge to a whole new level with Legend Brands. We will be creating products and programs that the industry has never seen before.
Were you ever a "in the trenches Carpet Cleaner"?
Yes I was for a while then CTI entered the world of manufacturing. I was quickly appointed Marketing/ Sales and Educational Manager. I even hand filled bottles after I had made my sales calls. It was a great motivator to grow the business.
Are there products in the CTI line that you'd like to see Chemspec have a version of?
Actually I am excited to announce that Legend Brands is partnering with CTI to be a Master Distributor of the Pro’s Choice stain removal products. The CTI products are a great addition to the family of excellent Legend Brand’s Chemspec and Pro Restore product lines.

If a guy/company only wanted to carry one pre-spray and one rinse, what would you suggest and what boosters would you recommend?

In my humble opinion Fission, Optimal Rinse and Bio Solve represent unbeatable cleaning chemistry.
Fels Naptha....your thoughts? Love it I shower with it every morning.
The best part about your career
and the worse.....

Honestly the best part of my career is speaking to cleaners around the country. It really makes me happy to speak with cleaners that say they applied something they learned and made a little more money. The frustrating part is there are so many of our brothers and sister out there struggling that are not going to classes. I firmly believe that the combination of education and great products can elevate our industry as a whole.

and can we get back to Joe Appleby's original question..

He wants a fool proof system for his techs. One where the pre spray cleans normal to almost trashed wtw, synthetic upholstery and even wtw wools..

Does Fission and Optimal Rinse fit that demand?

Great question I am going to have Joe call me and if its okay with him then conference him in with one of our chemists to find out some specifics of his cleaning environment and to fine tune his cleaning chemistry. Werner Buchmann and Mike Kerner have forgotten more about chemistry than I will ever know about chemistry. To me it's exciting to have two chemists able to really dial in a cleaner's cleaning to get the best results. Both Mike and Werner will be at the Experience this year to really speak to cleaners on a one on one basis .

Formula 90 must not be a buffered product to be safe at that ph. Man you guys get side tracked easy. It always cleaned well but I didn't like the smell. Maybe that's updated to. Been using fiber plus for a long time. Works great and leaves a soft hand.
