I am in the market for a high speed burnisher.
Good or bad, I’m trying my hand at VCT. Well, more accurately, I’ve lucked into a very large, multi building contract. They want one company to come to for all the floor care needs.
What is a good brand/make, for a quality, high speed unit?
I know some of you guys do this everyday, and have knowledge in this.
Please help....

I have an old electric burnisher I picked up when I bought out a closed business some years back. I've never really used it but it does run. I'll have to go to the storage unit to get pics and info if you are interested.

How much area of floor to be buffed? What type of facilities? Day time, night time buffing? Using an electric buffer would be like using a porty for residential😏 I would slit my throat! Not being an ass, but like everyone on here would say, still the truth.

After MUCH consideration, and deep thought, and the advice by many of you, we will NOT be getting into VCT at this time.
I spoke to the guy who is in charge of all these buildings, and told him we would prefer to stick to what we do best....
And he said he respected the decision, and doesn’t hold it against us.
I just hope that he was telling the truth.....

personally, I'd say most of the naysayers just haven't bothered to learn how to do it properly (everything is hard if you haven't learned) the size of the areas you were talking about was what would make me nervous for you.
Pick up a couple small jobs and learn how to do it properly, then later you can decide if you want to scale up

I’m certainly not a naysayer. It’s a great addition if you’re in commercial. My naysaying is about size right out of the gate. I agree with your last sentence.
We learned on phone company huts. Believe it or not, God was preparing us
for that job.

My first cleaning accounts were grocery stores, I was 19 and didn't know that I didn't know.

I had one of the area's first propane buffers in 78, took it back because stores wouldn't let me use it.

It turns out the advent of high production propane tools KILLED "the going rate" for floor care on the big area jobs.

At 68 they aren't as much fun.

Right. I guess we’re the same age. I’ll be 69 last day if May. Don’t won’t to do any myself. When my Pard quit, I said me too. She didn’t like that much🤷🏼‍♂️😂 But, the advent of spp’s just in time. Do you use a square machine in conjunction with the 175?

Timing...

I dumped my Square buff machine at least 20 years ago, pretty ineffective with red and black pads of the era.

SPP is a game changer, otherwise I wouldn't fool with repeat vct jobs any more.

I gave away a 28" American Lincoln battery auto scrubber in 95, it was a stainless steel beauty. When it needed new batteries I was at the end of that era of big floor cleaning. A sea change, similar to now.

But spp’s on a 175 and a square will strip a floor. That’s debatable, but it will. That’s what we use in our schools. (When they’re open) That and flat finishing mops were a game changer. Fairly easy to teach chimps. They (my chimps) will strip a floor, and I usually go around afterwards and show what need to be hit again. They do that with a square machine.

I have a 1700(?) rpm hi-speed if you want it?
I can't recall the brand.... Pacific??? maybe??
Bought it and used it a handful of times

anyway, it's covered in dust buried in a dark corner.
Other than 15 years of dust on it, once cleaned up it's more than presentable

No clue what shipping would cost to you, Jeff
and you'd have to pay me $100 PITA money to disassemble, box and ship it
But it's yours if you want it

That is very kind of you Larry.
I just might take you up on that....
And yes, I would pay the shipping, and the PITA fee, no problem....
