I’ve been asked to fill some holes and minor cracks in travertine. Should I fill the holes and then clean (after the hole compound is dry), or clean, and then fill the holes. I’m leaning toward cleaning first…
Is there a particular filler that works well for travertine? Are there some to avoid?
The process doesn’t sound hard, but it does seem like it will be wildly time consuming.
Thanks.

Turbo clean first, unless super clean. you need to match clean color

compound- polyester, traver-fil, or unsanded grout is your choices for filler with pro and cons of each

2 different levels of filling. This depends on size of hole and if your diamond honing the repair (Level 5)

Crack repairs. must dremel, must be very good with mixing with color to make it disappear. Must use polyester. depending on deflection, level 5may be required. We grind all are crack repairs when we are refinishing a floor . If you close your eyes and run your hand across, you can not feel it.

The filler depends on what was there before. Grout is easy. polished travertine will take more time.
