Seeing how all I use my Proteam upright for is upholstery and edging, I'm thinning of going with this instead to compliment my Royal

Hi Mike,

Back in the early 80's when we were doing office cleaning too, I started using the PortaPower vacuums. Ever since then we've continued to use them in every home we've lived in for vacuuming hard surfaces. These vacs are lightweight, have excellent suction, and are easy to handle. It'll quickly vacuum floors, upholstery, etc. The shake out bag is easy to dump. They're reasonably priced. Plus the vac will last you for years. I'd highly recommend that vacuum!

I'm very impressed. more suction than what the average upright offers, far more portability, a great expandable hose just the right length and all the tools you could ever want.
Very compact. I better Saiger could even fit one in his Sanford and Son Mobile.


No better tool for vacuuming upholstery that I know of.
The perfect companion to a Royal, Sanitaire or Kirby.


$110 from Cleanfreak so even if it only lasts a year, no big deal.


Jury is out on the shake out bag.

Id rather clean filters than a shake out bag.

We just got a sanitair canister with disposable bags no filters.

We do have a bissel with the detachable canister also.

We've had 12-14 of those back in the 1990's.... Used mostly for fire restoration and house cleanings... Good for what they are... I believe the ones we had were orange...

Mike is there any difference in your vac and the one in the link you posted other than the bag color and cord length?

I'm going to buy a royal, tired of all the plastic junk. I had one several years ago and liked it but didn't like the fact it didn't have on board edging tools, also thought it looked a little old timey , but it did a great job.

Hoover makes some real durable machines. I've had a few throughout the years. Sometimes the heat sensors malfunction though. I would remove them when they acted up.
