I just picked up an old host machine. I think it might be an old as disco. I picked it up for $150 and plan to use it on cut pile carpets since my Cimex weighs over 105 lbs. If one of the rentals I'm cleaning today is really nasty then I'll take so pictures to see which agitator works best. Some jobs might benifit from using both machines so I don't have stop much to use a spot treat.

The next question is what is better on grout? a weighted Cimex with brushes or a host machine that scrubs with cylindrical brushes, but not much weight.

Is your Cimex machine a 175? Others will disagree but, I think a machine with clerical brushes works better on carpet and definitely better on grout with the right brushes. The only issue I get with my GLS is on polyester / olefin cut pile. It pulls off allot of loose fibers and looks bad in front of the custy. I’m with you, I did not get a TM to be pulling around a 100 pound machine on every rat nasty job.
