Azerbijan is an independent country isn't it? That's not part of Iran... I guess at some point it may have been.. When my dad used to go to Baku it was part of the Soviet Union.

First of all, these are "Importer's Labels" and are not always accurate. In fact, many unethical dealers are putting "Made in Iran" labels on the back, when in fact, they were made in Pakistan. In fact, there was a local dealer who only sold machine woven rugs, but sold them as Persian.

Secondly, these are not always on the rug. To learn where a rug is made, teach yourself to rely on other things like quality of wool, fringe, dyes used, knot type, etc.

You'd be surprised how many people read the tags to figure out that information. Same goes with upholstery to see what its made out of too. :?

funny you'd mention that one... I have personally seen the same exact sofa and love seat w/two different tags on them before, what a joke!
