I tried that thing at MF, then I touched the carpet- soaked. Of course that was after god knows how many demo's.

My thoughts- awkward, overblown BB tool that might be good for a commercial hack who never lets off the trigger but I wouldn't buy it for resi.

Wow, way to alienate another prospect and possibly other readers of this, like you did to me last year Erik. You could have replied nicely like~ "The zipper Jr may not be for every one and I am not sure why you experienced what you did at MF. Perhaps you’d like to demo one for yourself on one of your jobs"

Erik, I know this is your "baby" and you are very proud of it. Try not to take the concerns and objections about it as a personal slam against you. I guarantee you that there are people out there that won't see the need or be able to justify the expense of the Zipper jr . Why would you want to alienate even one potential customer?

how many jets? what orifice size? Is it harder to use if you don't want to leave the Bac gamon board (staight back). It would seem two vac slots would be good in all types of carpet. If the logistics don't slow you down to much when you are doing res. CB.

yeah- takes a lot to get Brian's dander up. He daily deals with 40-70 employees and has the challenging role to need to deal with the occassional unahppy customer. He is very sensitive & astute about to how people treat others, especially customers or prospective ones.

Wow! Name calling and everything.
Again - although I've never used one I can see how it would be easier on the back but can't see it leaving drier carpeting. The jets are hitting the front glide. What happens when pushing forward?

Brian,

Thanks, your absolutely right. I appreciate your outlook and I would like to apologize to Chris. He is entitled to his own opinion about the Zipper. It was the hack part that got to me combined with my really long weekend and really bad morning. Not that this is any excuse but Chris, I'm sorry and I respect your opinion.

p.s. Does anyone know where I can find a PR guy like Brian?

You don't need a PR guy when you are able to sincerely apologize to whom you offended.

Erik, you have made a great tool. You should be very proud of yourself for all the hours it took to make your design come true.

Just don't be so quick to defend it at all costs. The wand will never get its feeling hurt. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

This is kinda what I was thinking, but I didn't want to say anything. Wouldn't the forward vacuum slot suck up the prespay before the jets had a chance to hit it? But then again by that time hasn't the prespray already done its job and cleaned the carpet, you are just rinsing it anyways. Someone who know more about chemicals then me should chime in. Does the prespray still need to be there when you blast it with hot water?

The forward slot behaves just as the back slot. You clean in both directions. The spray hits the carpet and just grazes the glide. I demoed the Zip earlier in the day and cleaned the whole carpet which was dirty with lanes and spots. Although I would normally prespray and run a 175, it worked very well just hooked to the Judson Lunch Pail running emulsfier on a dry carpet. Cleaned a 10 X 12 area in about 90 seconds. Carpet was just barely damp due to the two GreenGlides on it. It wasn't "soaked", at least not by me. Maybe after the twentieth guy running over the same area.

I went over the carpet multiple times going back and forth over the same area and it was only damp after I finished, I believe the tool works.

Whether you believe it's worth the money or not is another question. I believe it is, the tool is very well constructed, over built and made to last.

I believe Rhino/Chris but I wonder if it wasn't triggered while the unit wasn't running, flooding the carpet either by accident or on purpose to make the tool look bad?

If I had the need I'd get one, it is on my list but I have other items ahead of it.
