If you had a contact in a flooded area like North Dakota, how many residential jobs would make it worthwhile for a small company to travel?

Lee I wouldn't think it would take more than a have a dozen jobs for a small company to make it worth doing 6 X $2500.00 (for regular WDR loss, flooding could be more!) = $15,000.00 less travel fuel, lodging.

A contact would keep you from wasting time trying to find work, especially if they can line you up some work before you travel.

Not sure but wouldn't you need to work through someone that operates in the state?
Does your insurance cover you for work out of state? or Is additional insurance available?

Can you afford the time away, you could be there a while!

Traveling to do major storm clean-up can be very risky and/or very rewarding. We have been doing this now for about 10 years and have created somewhat of a nitche in doing larger commercial jobs. Some of the things have already been mentioned that you will need, which is different than doing water restoration at home. POWER is one of the major problems in doing storm clean-up: If you don't have any, you might as well stay at home. Cash is another issue. A lot of times during th storms, the Credit Card machines do not work and you must have cash for anything you want to buy. This can cause a lot of heart-ache and can stop your progress if you don't have cash in your pocket. A major issue with storms is not being able to verify if there is coverage for the loss. In North Dakota's case, they will need flood coverage. Homeowner's insurance will not pay a dime for flood work. There are many pit-falls in storm chasing and, if you survive, the rewards can be great... but you need deep pockets and the right mindset to do this. If you are still thinking about trying, please don't hesitate to Call me, I'll be glad to talk to you. Right now, we are sending in a salesman on Sunday to Fargo to start lining up work and getting contracts signed. This might be a little early, but everyone in the country will be heading to this same place. Good Luck.

My flood pumper and mutt are already there prepositioned with an insurance company; they provide perdium and $250 per hour per truck. Other companies handling dry outs. Basically doing extraction and pulling carpet. Got setup with a company about 4 days ago.

Storm chasing "restoration" companies are ranked right up there with ambulance chasing lawyers.

Unless of course a colleague ask for help. :D
