since when is 3 hours a day on YouPorn considered "Hunting:"?

What is YouPorn Hunting :?:

For many years, I have been very content as a one man show.

I would dearly love to stay that way, however, change is imminent.

Let me share a bit why this is so to me.

In a previous life I had eleven employees.

In a much distant life I had about 60.

When I finally spat the dummy, I said these immortal words that were etched in beer glasses.

"As long as my arse points to the ground, I shall":

1: Have no staff.

2: Work only four days a week.

3: Not advertise.

4: Do only carpets and upholstery.

Well, all went good for a short while.

But within six weeks I was back to doing six days a week.

Because we had a change in phone numbers, also our mobiles (cells) went from analogue to digital, I was getting complaints that I was hard to find, so I did start to do small ads.

These finish within the next six months, then it will only be my web site.

Now that I have regular corporate customers, they give me work every day of the week, and they must done in accordance with the contracts.

So I have changed my mind and will be making changes that will include an extra vehicle and staff.

He/she will only be doing the basics, ie; carpet & upholstery cleaning.

This may enable me to have more holidays, I mean, travel more for training

That's my take on it.

Ooroo,

It's the transition that's troublesome.

Sky is the limit on how many trucks I can to be. I prefer to be leading an army instead of being the army of one. I have big plans with this company and want to do many things. I want to be a entrepenure that owns a carpet cleaning business. I will get out of it what I put into it.

Im content on where I am now. I am diversifying this winter into snow plowing to add to my non sleepness nights.

Besides I like the labor part, would rather be physically tired than mentally tired.

Gotta start somewhere, I have a family of 3 to take care of and gotta cover my bases for the winter time. If I didnt have kids it would be a different story. As things are going now I may not get that PT job, had some good fortune come my way. Well see how it all pans out, this next week is starting out pretty well. :D

This business isnt hard to figure out, so I have confidents. If I work hard it will pay off, if I dont then you'll see my equipment on ebay or something.

I did get a new logo, blows my old one away. I hired someone to do my designs for everything.

there are pros and cons to both
Right now I don't want the admin challenges with having employees, ie another mouth to feed.
I look at it this way, when I'm making enough that I'm able to support TWO families, I'll consider hiring someone.
Some people say they like to make money when they are on vacation, but how often do they get a call that this went wrong or this broke down.
When I'm on vacation, nothing goes wrong or breaks down.

I like the work, I like dealing with people, I like seeing the end result.
It makes my day when I make someone elses.

SUPERTRAMP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that your real, family name :?: :?: :?:

As the man said, they come, they go.

Ooroo,

PS ::::: I like your professionaly designed logo, it's very, very similar to the one that the "natural" growers use down in Nimbin.

They even make their clothing out of hemp, when it gets to old to wear, they just smoke it

Shorty,

You are absolutely right companies come and go every year, I have 3 friends that started 3 different companies in the last 6 years and now they are not doing it no more. Each getting out of it for their own reasons. Some people make better carpet cleaners than business owners. I learned from their mistakes. I have also worked at some big and small operations and learned from them on whats good and bad, along with alot of people here. This BB can help make a successful operation if you just sit back and learn.

I think that is one of my strengths is that I can put my ego aside to listen and learn from who is successful and learn from who's not. I cant say I have all the answers or that im not going to make mistakes with my business, thats just apart of business, but if you can learn from them, then the sky *is* the limit. I am very determined to make this work, this is all I have and all that I want to do. I would of done it earlier in my career but I wasnt ready and I might of been one of those here today and gone tomorrow companies.

Sorry if I sound arrogent, I just believe that I can do it and I know I do come off that way so I try not to. I will keep you guys updated on how my business goes, to *show* you my progress and maybe meet some of you in connections one day.

One of those business that shut his doors ealier this year, a friend of mine, did so because his back went out and he likes his high paying job now and is done with carpet cleaning. I helped him get started 4 years ago and it came full circle, he took over a business from a guy who use to work at boeing and now I am taking over all his clients. There is about 300 on his list. I doubt all will come over to the green side. His wife also in real estate here and has alot of connections and wants to help me get clients. This is a case were Karma came back and got me in a good way. So we'll see how it goes. I learned a famous quote many years ago and it just stuck with me: Walt Disney "If you can dream it, you can do it"

I don't want another truck out on the road. However what I see myself doing in the future is hiring help and running dual wands under my supervision. That's as big as I want go get. I don't want anyone representing me on their own truck.....I have just found that nobody wants to work especially unsupervised. I don't want my reputation going to the crapper. However the business in my immediate are doesn't allow for another truck....the volume isn't there to run another truck anyway.

I had 2 trucks and went back to 1

I made more $$$ in pocket running 1 and far less stress and headaches and definately less redo's

BUT................

I always worried about when something happened to me (say an injury etc.)

Who's gonna do the work??

I am happier as an o/o though
