It was heavily soiled almost black in places from their mutts. I pre-sprayed with Chemspecs colorfast upholstery pre-spray (ph 3) and rinsed with water. I turned out like new and was dry when I left. How many of you guys would have steamed instead of using dry foam or solvent. The customer wanted me to Scotchgard it but I didn’t feel like pressing my luck. I don’t him I would check on pricing of a solvent based protector and get back to him.

Good for you, Mike!!

And I say you were right on the Scotchgard.

Use a solvent based protector- there are several good ones on the market.

Buy enough for future use.

Apply with sprayer that only puts out a mist- electric or trigger sprayer- and remember- only a couple of ounces is plenty- do not saturate. When dry, the protector is only a molecule thick.

Work in with your hand or latex glove. Keep people off for 24 hours.

Charge them plenty!!

I have never payed attention to cleanabilty codes, worthless.
I do my own tests on questionable fabrics. I have seen 2 matching
chairs in the same house purchased from the same place at the same time
with different codes, more than once. Its only there to protect the manufactures
ass. When we clean your upholstery we take the liability in our hands.

I'm glad your sofa job worked out well though.

Been using Judson for cotton, even heavy white chenile. Rinse has a drying agent. No browning so far.

I agree with kevin - the codes are outdated in my opinion. Do your own testing and with the solutions and equipment ie drimaster tool etc available today almost 100% of upholstery is wet cleanable to some extent.

what were you skeert of?

I'd of NUKED it, cleaned and tossed a couple fans on it.

A mention about worthless cleaning codes, I've seen 100% olefin fabric with "S" codes before.
Not even some exotic weave.
Simple olie herculon looking stuff we saw lots of 15 years ago.
Chit you NUKE with Powerburst

I always towel dry the uph I clean. You can remove soil from the hard to clean areas. I agree the codes are worthless.

I would have used whatever it took to get it clean. Why start with something that might make problems for me? I just started using that Chemspec stuff and am real happy with the results. It works as well as allot of the high PH products. It’s handy stuff to have on the truck for problem rugs and upholstery.

I use bridgepoint's cotton shampoo on white cotton with great results. It's almost fool proof for techs.
