The Tuthill argument is quieter helical cut gears, while some might argue that the steel shafts on the Roots & Gardener Denver are stronger.

The bottom line is that rarely are you going to have a demonstrable difference with any of the choices. Personal preference and anecdotal review are likely to take precedence.

A current Cleanfax article in regard to noise of a dual-lobe v. tri-lobe blower.

We've had very little problem with Roots or Sutorbuilt blowers over the years, but have had two Roots die of broken shafts. These were several years apart but both were found to be due to manufacturing imperfections. So far no issues in several years of using Tuthills.

OK...i'm getting some good input here...BUT

is the Tuthill a Tri-Lobe.....?

that would be a deal killer cuz i feel the space taken up by the THIRD lobe would diminish the volume of air running thru the blower

Why Bawb ifin you went with a Tuthill you could charge more because you could claim it's a
"PRopRIEtARy" BLOWA just like HM and PC.

Tuthill makes NON tri-lobe blowers also. so make sure of what your getting. I have a standard tuthill 4007 and it has been fine with a little over 2200 hrs.
