I think I lost my mind yesterday

Yesterday I think I went temporarily insane. Something Inside of me channeled my inner Andy Kaufman and his bongo drums. If you're a millennial with your head in the sand, check out the video below, then I'll continue.

Okay, now that you're familiar with Kaufman, I'll continue. One of the property management companies I clean for requested that I clean a place after Friday due to having their cleaning crew in there. I gave them a little extra time and scheduled the job for Monday. This company I work for is terribly disorganized at times. Well this time was one of those times. I showed up and the place had tools, ladders, blinds, and cleaning supplies everywhere. Coming from deep within the house music was blaring out. It was some sort of Russian disco music.

In the kitchen there was some pie-faced-Campbell-Soup-Kid looking woman scrubbing the sink. I yelled at her over the Russian bee bop music that I was there to clean the carpets. She looked at me clueless and replied something in Russian, or maybe it was Caspian. Then some fat pie-faced guy (it must of been some sort of pie faced family) that was working in the backyard started banging on the window and yelling at me. At this point I could feel my blood pressure spike.

Normally this would not be a big deal, but it seems that this kind of stuff is happening more and more. When my schedule is full, it's not as easy to move stuff around. I don't like wasting my time and fuel. Hell, I'm not telling you guys anything you don't already know.

So back to the story. I got this pasty whale yelling at me through the closed window, the woman in the kitchen looking at me cluelessly, and the Russian/Caspian disco music thronging away. At that moment I snapped. I started singing and dancing to the music like Andy Kaufman playing his bongo drums. I was singing "Benga Dinga Doo, Rappa la quinta koo" in time with the music and danced a little jig in the living room. I think I did this for at least a solid minute. The Campbell-Soup-Kid woman and the guy were both staring at me with their mouths open. I then walked out, got in my van, and drove home.

I have never done that before. I'm sure they thought I was nuts. I went back this morning and cleaned the carpets.

I was offered an account that payed 45 for a 2 bedroom, and 35 for a one..... it wasn’t the offer that made my blood boil, it was what the PM said to me after giving a quote....

Well, we work for a lot of these half brain dead property managers.. Sometimes it seems my wife and I are managing them ourselves! People are always in our way, it's like nobody else actually keeps their schedule but us..

The one that burned my ass this year was from a property that we have been servicing for like 5 years now..

We dropped the ball(once in 5 years), and didn't have a unit that needed to be cleaned on the schedule.. So my wife gets a call the next day with the manager telling my wife that the movers are there and it wasn't cleaned. I called her up, and apologized and told her we will make it right with her new tenant.. I then told her just have the movers move the stuff in and we will deal with it.

At this point I was thinking we will just move all of there furniture and block and tab it, maybe come back and hit the traffic areas(yeah big PITA, but we screwed up whatever!)..

She told them I would pay the $500 for the move from there last place down the road!!!!!:eekk:

As this was going on I was talking to the managers in the office and one of them told me "Oh, no big deal they were supposed to replace the carpet in that unit" :madder:

This lady has a lot of nerve, after I said I would pay for the move she asked if I would pay for the new carpet!!!

We have made our money back by their poor management, we just clean what they schedule... We will clean units twice if they schedule it!!

Oh man, that'd chap my ass...

Hell no I wouldn't pay for no move.. I'd ask you to pay for the carpet replacement too, since you volunteered the moving..

We have our contractors flooring license if they want it replaced.. If we don't recommend cleaning, they ask us to rip & replace...

I look at this property as a challenge! lol If I can't make them happy.... I probably do $15,000 a year there.

They are REAL uptight though, I usually just send my guy(cuz I hate them:lol:).. We both hate it! When you go into the office.. omg! GIVE ME THE F'N KEYS!!! Usually there is a line,or they aren't in the office.. If they are in the office you can wait for 10mins or so because your time ain't worth chit!

We do almost zero property mngmt work.

Which should be your goal.

$80 worth of deodorizer on a $90 job is no way to go through life son..
I don't know Mike. I do pretty good with the PM. I don't know why you assume my jobs are $90 jobs for them. Usually my tickets are over $200. Sometimes $700+ for urine and repairs. I pretty much dropped all the apartment complexes.

My last four invoices for PM work totaled almost $1,800. Coincidentally, only one of those invoices were for $90.

The goal is to bring on a guy and once he's trained up, stick him on PM vacants. Then I'll also fire up the EDDM machine and put him on a bunch of coupon jobs. I just hope the Amtex doesn't kill him, because no one is using my Sapphire.
