After rinsing out their bottle of Res*lve (a condition of getting free spotter), I place my own waterproof label on the bottle and mix up spotter at 2x normal.

I refer to the DS2 as being “sailerproof” or nearly impossible to screw up. The deal is they can call for more any time as long as I am in business. A few actually do.

Encap-Clean DS2 is good for most of what you'll run up against in most situations. Covers the gamut pretty well. It's our number one selling product. It's the one to go to as an all around encap product.

Our number two product is Encap-HydrOx. It's popular because it works well on organic soil, protein based soil, browning, water stains, coffee stains, wine, etc. It also imparts a nice color pop to lighter colored carpets.

We recommend Encap-Clean DS2 as the standard for every day encap cleaning. And Encap-HydrOx would be for situations that can benefit from using a hydrogen peroxide product.

What's the difference between the polymers? Why does one polymer play well with peroxide and the other doesn't?

Nice video Rick.
  1. And for that matter approximately what is the shelf life of the concentrate (as far as peroxide staying potent) after it has been opened (assuming average heat).
  2. And approximately how long does the peroxide keep working once mixed.

Hydrogen peroxide stays more stable in an acidic environment. A true encap polymer, like the one we formulate our Releasit detergents with, favors an alkaline solution. To properly formulate using hydrogen peroxide means we needed a polymer that's (1) stable with hydrogen peroxide, and (2) can handle an acidic base. Encap-HydrOx is formulated with a different polymer than our other products. It's uniquely able to handle the aggressive chemical nature of H2O2 as well as the acidic base.

1. Shelf life of a 1/2 used opened jug of Encap-HydrOx is about a year. Storing it in really hot conditions can lessen the potency. But a partially used sealed jug of product will normally remain effective for about a year.

2. Once it's mixed it should be used the same day. Storing mixed Encap-Hydrox in your tank for more than a few hours will start to lose potency.

If you're curious about how Encap-HydrOx's peroxide concentration stacks up compared to other peroxide products on the market. Or if you'd like to test it's strength before using it. You can get a H2O2 test strip kit pretty cheaply.

help me with that, Rick
why does diluted product lose potency in a few hours, but undiluted lasts a year?

thanks

..L.T.A.

Mixed product break down when exposed to the air. Here's a simple example to illustrate the point of how exposure to air affects a detergent...

Mix up some dish detergent a bowl in the kitchen sink at night. You'll see that it's nice and bubbly when you splash your hand around in it. Come back the next morning and splash your hand in the water. You'll find that it's far less bubbly. Come back and do it again that evening and it's barely bubbly at all. I know this is an over simplified illustration, but it gives a picture of what's going on when the mixed detergent is exposed to oxygen. Biodegradation is starting to occur.

Hope that helps to explain why mixed detergents, exposed to air, will break down quicker than their undiluted, fully concentrated, sealed in a jug, counterpart.

Encap-Punch is an encap/pre-spray. It can also be used as a very good encap bonnet cleaner, as well as an encap HWE rinse detergent. And it's also CRI approved.

Put everything that constitutes a good pre-spray on the one hand - and on the other hand balance it out with a solid encap polymer package. That's what Encap-Punch is. I'll shoot another video soon covering Encap-Punch in more detail.

Encap-Clean DS2 is an encap shampoo. We feel it's the best one on the market today. Perfect for the Cimex, rotary machines, CRB's, and orbital machines.

A year shelf life for an opened jug Peroxide product is great.

Yes it should still be usable for about a year in a sealed jug. As long as it's not stored in too hot of a location, and providing that the jug is about 1/2 full, you should experience only a modest decrease in H2O2 potency. If the jug is nearly empty the peroxide's potency will weaken more rapidly.

Rick, I thought DS2 was for wool, but Hydrox isn’t okay. Do I have that backwards?

Correct, Encap-Clean DS2 is totally safe for wool. And yes, we hold back from recommending Encap-HydrOx for wool - even though we hear from folks who use it on wool and don't seem to have a problem. So then why do we refrain from recommending Encap-HydrOx for wool? Because we're playing it safe. Hydrogen peroxide can damage the cuticle of wool fiber. And that's something we don't want to do.

We use HP on wool only as a last resort. When any resulting damage is worth the stain removal. I have never seen wool visibly damaged by HP but I'm sure it's there.
