We already know he doesn't like....

...a broken leg.

And I like the van washed anyways.

But I'm assuming you're referring to a well known, popular franchise. I would bump up the marketing for the next 6-12 months to keep my business fresh in my customer's minds. I would make several follow up calls, checking on them, and telling them any new services that I might offer.

The key is, making sure nobody gets drunk on the flavor of the month new guy

Ask him for a job...

See if he would buy me out...

I probably wouldn't even know about it till he closed up.

I saw a major franchise executive look at my Linked in profile last year. I saw that his postition in the business was Commercial Division Manager. Their business isn't in my area YET.

What would you think if you saw a franchise look at your profile and you had the best reviews in your home area?

I'm more worried about a new guy with a brand new truck mount payment that does good work for nothing.
A Mikey is just gonna skim the cream off the top. A Tom King or Applebee deciding to build an empire in your backyard would kinda stink. A competitor doing elite level work (even with an adorable little machine) and getting top dollar for that work....that might not hurt as bad as it might seem.

There is so much work out there it wouldn't matter.
I would want the new guy/Mikey to know that I would be there to help out when his 370 breaks...or whatever machine breaks and when I was over my head on some stone...tile or whatever, would have a guy to send my Customer to.
Yes I might lose that Customer but to keep every Customer you are going to need every tool, training, chemical... there is to handle every type of floor out there including lots of hardwood in Texas. Water Damage... Vent Cleaning... Pest Control... Rug Plant?
Point is better to keep it friendly and stay focused on work you like and are good at. IMO

Was it SM? I talked to them about buying that territory (4 counties) but it was too rural for me. Well, for the 200k plus investment.

I would hire him to come and clean at my house and watch everything he does and then compare to how I clean to see if I need to change some things to be on the same level.
Then I would tank his rating on Yelp....joking:biggrin:

No, it wasn't Service Master. I see them cruising through my town every now and then. They're over in Rabun County

Mike's daughter lives in my town, so maybe there is a chance I can buy him a salad at MacDonald's one day :). If he moves here, I'll give him a good deal on a gently used scrubber thing I bought.

I'd welcome him...

Then hire in Christopher Lee to kick his A$$ out of town :)

He would be a challenge... But not worried too much at this point :)

Keep a positive marketing campaign...

He would possibly get some jobs but we have a good established client base and reputation at this time.

Plus he is like us... Do it for a good and fair price... Build a reputation of quality... He would keep us all on our toes to continue to do quality work!
