Hey guys. I was out of the business for a while but I am ready to jump back in. I got a killer deal on a Thermal wave 2. Tanks, reels, everything. The only problem is that both of the heat exchangers are shot.

I removed the cores of both of them. They are outrageously expensive at JonDon. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Anyone have used parts for this machine?

Would I be better off going with a little giant? Also, if I were to only replace one for now, which one would give me the most heat? The coolant one or the blower exhaust one? This one the engine exhaust doesn't go through the heat exchangers.

Thanks!
Anthony

I think they are both copper. But the braided hose runs from the coolant exchanger to the blower exchanger. I assumed they were both post pump maybe not. How hot can you get the water before it runs into the pump?

I have two heat exchangers from an amtex inferno in good shape. I converted to propane - you can have them if you want to pay shipping

300 hours on them

Ill post pics this evening if you are interested

not remotely the same. I am sure he is appreciative you offered but they wouldnt be of any use on the thermal wave

Your engine uses the coolant exchanger as part of the coolant system. it takes heat from the coolant to heat the water and in return it cools the coolant. It is important to have working. As for outrageous what do you consider outrageous?

also if it was froze bad enough to take out the heli coil your going to have big issues down the road. I would replace all the hoses on that machine and be prepared to possibly replace the pump if it hasn't already been replaced. The heli coil HX is the last thing to freeze and usually means everything else in the water system is damaged too

Aloha Anthony,

I have a thermal wave 2 in my warehouse that I am planning to part out. (Shipping from HI could be an issue, but not sure). If interested, give me a call and we can work something out. My number at the office is 808-575-9922

Thanks,

Graham Helicoil have been used on many many cleaning machines for many years, as well as in other industrial application.

However most cleaning machine engines don't "require" them to operate well.

Susclean, I appreciate the offer but I don't know if I'd be able to make them work in this machine. Thank you!

John, Is that coolant exchanger really needed to cool the engine? Can I beef up the radiator fan if I choose to do without it?
Also, they want $841 for the coil core for the blower exchanger and $1,661 for the whole coolant exchanger.

The machine is designed as a whole. As Lee said they don't "require" them but they are very much a part of how the computer takes its readings on engine temp etc. I am NOT the engineer so anything I say is based on my own SWAG. Thom Fielding or Mike Roden or Scotty over at blueline would be best to explain how it all works but I wouldn't run a computer controlled machine without the WHOLE cooling system in place. As for the prices those arent outrageous. You shouldn't need the whole HX just the core unless it froze so bad it cracked the casing then if that's the case your going to have a lemon on your hands as the whole system is most likely compromised having been froze that bad

Thanks John! You have some good points. Yeah I was thinking just the cores too but when I called sapphire they said they changed the coolant one and it is now sealed. It would be great if I could find a core somewhere.
