BNI here. Huge for business. I'm thinking of hiring someone just to represent me in another group. They're begging for a carpet cleaner.

I've been with Letip for 5 years.
I am currently the membership chair.

If you belong...or even if you don't...I would recommend to everyone, go visit as many of these meetings that you can in your area (that doesn't already have a carpet cleaner) and hand your card to maybe 30 people.

If you don't belong to one...join before some other DBCC joins and takes all the business.

Being in front of 20 or 30 or more people every week can only help your business.

Make sure you put Brian Robison from Letip of Roseville as your sponsor.
I am trying to get my gold badge.
thanks.

Just got back from my every Thurday morning BNI meeting. This is a newly formed group of 10 members. I've personally have received business from 4 of them. I was just named President.

Back in 2000 - 2004 I was in another chapter of BNI (former President) and it accounted for roughly 60% of my new business. I am willing to wait for those numbers to happen again.

I can't agree more with Brian. Not only join these types of groups, but volunteer for a position...."Being in front of 20 or 30 or more people every week can only help your business."

So you can only be a member of one BNI in your area? How do you know which one to become a member of if you go to a few different groups? Also, if you have 2 people working in your company, could you possibly go to one and have the other partner go to the other representing the same company? I know there is a membership involved, but that should paid for itself as referrals is the key to any business.

Chamber of Commerce here, it's a weekly just like BNI or Le Tip

Not near the same thing!

Smart thing to have an employee join other referral groups. Hire a part-time employee as a sales person. The only problem I've seen with people doing this is that the hired employee is not committed and will not attend all meetings. In Bni, a person can miss 6 times in 6 months, 3 with-out a sub and 3 with a sub. If a person is not committed and doesn't care about the group, he might not get many referrals.

30 members in my Letip chapter, I have a hard time finding tip for the other members, I show my book of business cards to my clients, and some of them take cards. Most of my customers are first time referrals, and I think it will be easier to get tips the second time I clean for them. I've been a member for about 7 months, most of the tips I receive are inside tips, I've gotten over a dozen jobs from a property manager tip. One member told everybody that she wanted to replace her carpets, but couldn't justify it after I restored her carpets.

You can have anyone in your company join as many groups as you want. One person cannot be in two groups...but that's only if you get caught. lol

Join the group that is in the area that you want to do business in and visit all the other groups that don't have carpet cleaners.

If you join Letip, Put Brian Robison as your sponsor (shameless attempt at getting a Gold badge. lol)

I've been to a BNI and I've been to my Chamber leads group , both seem to be just about the same format. Maybe your chamber leads groups are run a little different then mine.

As long as everyone is passing referrals it's win win situation.

I've been to all and other types of Leads groups in my area.
Letip is byfar the best.
Why?
Structured better. The meeting flows and we all know what we are there for.
Pickier..we vote people in and not all make it.
Spiritual income...We care about helping others (other groups do to) build their business.
Structured again...we keep track of all money maid, have rules in place so that other don't take advantage of the group etc.
Patriotic...Every meeting we say the pledge of Allegiance.

With that said,
Every group is what their members make of it. I am heavily involved and have always been since joining.
If you don't take your group seriously chances are you don't take your business seriously.

If you are having a problem tipping? Talk to someone who doesn't.
Problems Bringing in members? Talk to someone with a blue or higher badge.
You have to be pro-active with this as in life.

The group is what the members make it. LeTip and BNI are extremely similar. Both are very structured if the rules are followed.

Yes, you can put other employees in other chapters if you want. You just can't belong to more than one yourself.

If there are several chapters in your area, visit them all. The dynamics are considerably different in each.
