I didn't use "Cat" oil for a short time(50hrs) in my Cat Model 340 and now I suspect it may be short lived. I notice it was getting hotter to the touch than normal so I drained the oil and found a lot of fine metal. Opened it up and there is alot of wear in the bore and to the crank bearings and journals. The pump head and clutch are like new so I'm looking at finding a replacement crankcase assembly. Does anyone know if the crankcase assembly for a 310 and 340 are interchangeable? I got a line on a good 310 if I can use my head and clutch.

I just noticed that they have a different stroke length and rpm requirements. I suspect I could put my head and clutch on a 310 but then I would need to change the drive pulley to slow it down.
