Is my Royal wore out?

It boggs down when I lower the vacuum on the carpet, and yes the belt is good on it. It just doesn't feel as strong as it did a few years ago.

When it was new, it conquered the carpet, but now, it just feels like it doesn't want to pull away from me.

The picture just shows how bad the fan is wore on the motor. It's coming close to 7-9years old and it's got several hours on it. So, has anyone here wore out a Royal?

Toss it, buy another.

Amazon Prime gets it to you in 2-days!
I probably will. It still has enough life in it to do just the super rat nasty jobs so I can keep a nasty vac and a nice vac for all my good customers.

I'm just wondering the normal life span of a Royal in our business.

Did you get a quote on a rebuild?
Yeah, seems like it might be good to replace whatever is worn.

I like the Royal because it's so simple. I bet a new motor or new fan blade deal (creates the lift), brush roll.

That's where the value of one of these pro tools comes in.

Plus it keeps it out of the landfill.

A couple of possible answers for you is that the belt has streached out over time and while it "looks good" it may be too loose.
The belt may be slipping from either the belt, motor post, or brush roll being too smooth and the belt can't get a grip anymore. try sandpaper to rough up the wood brush roll or the metal motor post a little
The fan blades don't effect the brush roll at all, it only effects the suck of the vacuum.

Yeah, I replace my belts and brush roll frequently. But I never thought of messing with the motor post. I'll get out some sandpaper before Monday and let you know if it's any better.

I agree with the fan blades not affecting the brush roll. I was showing the condition of them just to show you ya'll how well used this motor is

I tried the Proteam

I really wanted to like it.

But in the end, the brush roll design blows.
How much did you try the Proteam?

Before my customer bought my first one, I was loving it. On my next vacuum order, I'm definitely getting another one

Kirby
Sanitaire
Some Sharks
Riccar Radiance
I'm going to ignore Marty on the Shark Comment, so just act like he's not in the room, and he'll go to his corner and play with himself.

But on the Riccar...I almost bought one. that was when I was using Sanitair and I was BROKE$, so the feeling I had when I looked at the Riccar back then, just took away my desire to mess with them

The very newest Riccar is sic.

But at $7.00 a bag it ain't happening.
Using a Riccar in our business is like a contractor driving a mercedez car through the mud to get to the house they're building. It'll get you there, but it's way overpriced and too pretty

The new Royals are not of the same quality as the originals. They are on my no-buy recommendation.
Mainly because of the issue with the adjustment mechanism for the cleaning head height.
