On the 13th of this month, the Harvest Project (my charity for February 22nd) is having a thank you breakfast for volunteers. I got an invite but they've asked me to give a short speech about how this all got started and what a success it was. I've never spoken in front of a large and diverse group of people before and I'm not really sure what to say. Ideas?

(I'm already thinking about how to get some other service oriented business types involved, but I need some ideas for that as well.)

I would bring up the fact that the carpet cleaning industry has a great forum where we all discuss methods, products, issues etc. and hold each other accountable. On that forum it was discussed to take advantage of the slow season to give back to the community and it spread like wildfire as we are such wonderful giving people! Since so many customers don't like to pay for our services we are all broke dick cleaners who can't afford to donate money so we donate our time instead. LOL!!!! Yada yada!

So, what did you say Willy?
Honestly? Not a whole lot of anything specific, I gave a shout out to all that worked their buns off on 2/22, complemented both the organization and the volunteers, thanked them for allowing me to be of service, etc. I just had to fill 5 minutes. Wasn't easy at first but the non religious preacher came out of me and I filled 'er up.
