We use a tick tracer but I have a limit of how much I trust that meter. If its deep water I'm not risking my life on a $70.00 meter.

That looks much better than what we are using, how much?

Here's an easy way to remember it

When you think of John , just think of a Big Zero , not an E

If you use a ticker (non-contact voltage detector) to verify a circuit is dead, find a live circuit like a receptacle and make sure the detector works. Then, without setting it down, putting it in your pocket, etc. immediately test your circuit. Do this every time. It's the only way to make reasonably sure the device is OK.

If you're just trying to make sure a circuit is live, then just use the ticker normally.
