My brother bought a new one in '74...455 w/manual trans ...it was strong, ballsy and stable
At that time, there were only three in the county
By '77 there were a bazzilion around town and 455 no longer available

in '78 he bought another new one. (400/manual trans)
It wasn't no sled, but didn't run with the '74

I lost a race once to one of those 400's. It looked all stock and straight out of the showroom. I figured it was bought with daddy's money and the kid didn't know what he had... I was wrong. That was one sweet sleeper!!! He had the entire thing redone but made sure it looked stock.

Cleaning out the garage I found a windshield-sized pair of sunglasses like the ones Mikey's wearing. They were in a box with some high school stuff.

I wore them to work and several millenials demanded to know where I got them. Sorry kids, I got them from the 70's.

Two weeks later they all had a pair, so I guess they're back.
