Got my Kirby 10 pin (1st 10 Kirbys sold) in 1979 when I was 19. I sold them door to door. The Kirby Classic then was $635.95 with the handi-
butler, rug shampooer and all the extras making me $200.00 per sale.
I'd put my Angel Flight suit and Famolary shoes on, sing sales songs at our AM meeting and hit 50 doors until I got a demo. I'd put folks on a 3 yr payment plan through Household Finance with interest rates then in the 20s. I still feel guilty about that.
It was the most difficult as well as educational sales experience I could of had. I still have a Kirby at our shop.
