A local businessman invited me to be the CCer in the chapter of Arizona Leads and Networking Group where people grow their businesses through ideas, contacts, and referrals.

Anybody have any experiences to share with such a group, good or bad?

Thanks,

John

I belong to a leads group through the local chamber here. I've received lots of work and met lots of new potential clients from it. Try it for a year and see how it works for you.

I didn't like it. The $10 breakfast and time invested weren't worth what I got from it. For the group to be good everyone needs to bring leads weekly which was hard for me. Also I was never comfortable with recommending people just cause they were in my group.
I think there are better groups out there . Rotary is a great group where you make contacts w/ influential people while serving the community. Also most good sized cities have groups like Building and Facility managers,Hotel & lodging, restaurant. Last year I found out we have the 2nd largest chapter of National Association of Residential Property Managers(NARPM) with 95 rental managers. You just network at these meetings w/ no pressure to sell.

I like my LeTip group. I just joined about 3-4 weeks ago. I have already received 4 tips. It cost me 500 bucks to join, and my quarterly dues are 190. Breakfast is on the chapter, and all I do is bring guests, and refer some stuff inhouse from me to other members, to get a feel for them. If I like them, I will refer out to them.

The insurance guy, just cut about 50 bucks off my monthly auto insurance and is working on reducing my liability insurance which currently runs me 149.00 a MONTH. Yes, I know, I am getting screwed.

BNI is the best business decision i have made yet.$430 to join and $330 a year after that.$5 a week for breakfast and my gas which im usually in the area where i work anyway after the meeting.

i have made well over $4000 and its been about 8 months.

it also helps me get off my butt at least once a week.i have to give a 60 second commercial and an occasional 10 minute presentation.all of these things i see as being a positive factor from going from being a hack to actually being a business person which i struggle with.

i think im going to join the chamber too.
