My lg3ht hasn't been working properly lately. Very slow for the main burner to come on. Took the burner out and cleaned it. When I turn it on now, burner fires right up, very powerful. Reaches temperature and shuts off. When I pull the trigger on the wand, I hear the thermostat click but the burner comes on with a very weak flame out of the jets. If I shut it down and refire it, it comes on fine but then repeats with the weak flame. Any ideas?

This is the one you tweaked the T-stat?

My guess is either low on propane, the pilot light orifice is clogged.. I've had a Bbq tank with a bad valve... It'd fook up some shit...

Pilot light is nice and strong. I didn't tweak this one. That was my 2ht that I tweaked. Really made a big difference. Is it possible to get an air lock in the main burner?

It's possible.. Did you try a different tank?

Different tank, different reg. Different hose. Seems to be in the control or main line.

Everything works perfect on initial firing. Only when it has to refire does it happen.

Stumped me than.. When in doubt call Les Judson... My new #4LG heater had a problem with the pilot orifice.. It'd fire up but blow out and not stay lit on a commercial job... Real PITA.. Never had a control go out except for my #2 I bought but the OG owner broke it when it fell..

Bad tank valve as well with symptoms like you mentioned..

I'll call Les tomorrow. I have it on a work bench for now. Tomorrow is just portable work.

Not a little giant, but when my Northstar igniter wint out it almost caught my van on fire. Totally saturated everything in my van with soot when it decided to finally fire off. Here is an old video of the repair.

check your valves. your valve is allowing enough propane through for an initial burn but then can't keep up on second burn.

I couldn't get ahold of Les today so I called lg in Texas. They advised me to check gas pressure. Bought a gauge and will do that this afternoon.

Problem solved. Turns out the new regulator I had made up, was made up backwards. Put the old one back on and it is flawless.

It's probably because I wanted a easy screw off fitting. The fitting is 1/4 inch and the lead to the heater is 3/8 inch. Only one way to put it together. The wrong way.
